Moo Thru: The Creamy Destination for Ice Cream Lovers in Remington, VA

Best ice cream I've ever had. The Mounds had such a clean coconut flavor, and the dark chocolate was deep and rich like ganache without too much sweetness. Even the peanuts on top were crunchy and toasty.

Not the sexiest 3000th review you may see on Yelp, but this is where Moo Thru has landed as I pick off pending reviews from a very long list. On a road trip into DC going the back way on Highway 29 I ran across Moo Thru which I was familiar with from Charlottesville. All I needed was coffee to keep me awake, but decided to treat my daughter to a cup of Oreos & Cream as she cranked out an essay on the road to the airport for Spring Break. Friendly counter service by a young lady. All ordering is outdoors with outdoor undercover seating too! It's a big road stop vibe with even a drive- thru to stay put in your car. The wait was not long and the coffee was pretty good, not great. However, my daughter really liked the ice cream and gave me a small bite. I concurred it was yummy! They offer a restroom off to the side. It was clean, but had issues with shutting off the water and reported. I would have no issue returning and get an ice cream next trip.

This was a nice place to stop and take a break from driving. They have good ice cream but I thought it was a little expensive. We got two two scoop waffle cones and it was almost $20. Now they do give you a lot of ice cream but 2 scoops of ice cream for $10 each will melt your enthusiasm about the place. They have a drive thru and lots of seating. They also have a large grassy area perfect for kids who have been cooped up on a long drive to get out and run around for a while. It is a popular place so there may be a bit of a wait. It took us about 15 minutes to our cones. That's not too bad but if you have young kids bouncing off the wall 15 minutes can feel like an hour. One thing I really did not like was the drive thru setup it was way to close to where you stand to order and pickup your ice cream. Also you have to pass through the drive thru lane to access the ordering window and the seating areas. Also the parkinglot is one way so make sure you enter the correct way to stay safe.

Super spacious and fun to visit! The portions are pretty good and service was quick. They did mess up with our order at first but had us parked to make it right. I was a bit concerned of the waiting period (mainly because I have a sleeping baby that wakes up once the vehicle stops driving) but it honestly didn't take them long to fix it.

The only issue I noticed was that the pick up area was very disorganized. People were trying to take orders that did not belong to them because of the confusion. Other than that it was good. Tastes great and relatively quick.

Really good ice cream, their dark chocolate is very think and delicious! Also love their cookie and cream flavor! We passed by this place while driving a car and see a lot of people outside . we were very curious what it’s selling so look it up on Google maps and see it’s ice cream store immediately we decide to make a U-turn and get in the line for the -drive-through. Although the line is pretty long but it takes us around 25 minutes waiting in the car I would say it’s not too long based on how many people that’s waiting outside and it’s 30 minutes before the store closed. The staff were pretty nice and recommend us to try blackberry, which is one of their most popular favor next time.

Yummy ice cream. Every time driving to and from UVA, Moo Thru is a must stop for delicious ice cream. Of course, we also get some in the market place by UVA as well.

Every time my family and I travel this direction and pass by this ice cream shop, we always make sure to stop. This time, I got a flight of ice cream which included Chocolate Chip, Moundz, Coffee, and Cookies and Cream. My little daughter always gets the plain vanilla, and according to her, it's the best vanilla ice cream. We always enjoy this shop. The staff is friendly, as always. They have a long line at the drive-thru, but it moves very quickly. The only thing I didn't like is how close the walk-up order line is to the drive-thru, which makes me feel a little unsafe having little kids near my area with so many cars.
